SuperMagnets: Magnetic Hooks

These magnetic hooks have, thanks to the use of super magnets, unbelievably small dimensions in comparison to their magnetic strength. Due to the fact that they are embedded in a steel pot, they are stronger than the same-size "naked" neodymium magnets. The indicated holding strength corresponds to an optimal surface, i.e. a thick, smooth sanded steel. Note that the strength of the magnet distinctly reduces if the metal is thinner, painted, or does not possess a smooth surface. The holding strength has been measured to be perpendicular to the supporting surface. As such, it takes much less strength to move the magnets sideways. For example, a hook that is attached to the ceiling and can hold 5 kg can only hold approximately 1 kg without slipping when attached to the wall.
